TCP wins lawsuit over Red Bull’s signature gold can packaging

The Chongqing High People’s Court has recently ruled in favor of T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Co., Ltd. (TCP) in its lawsuit against Reignwood Group over the ownership of the packaging - the signature gold can that energy drink Red Bull comes in.

In 2020, the Supreme People’s Court ruled in favor of TCP in its lawsuit against Red Bull Vitamin Drink Co., Ltd., the joint venture between TCP and Reignwood Group, over the ownership of the Red Bull trademarks.

TCP was founded by Tai businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya in early 1960s. He developed an energy-boosting beverage that was first labeled “Red Bull” for exportation in 1976. In 1996, TCP set up a joint venture with Reignwood Group to manufacture and sell the energy drink in China.
