Regulations on Intellectual Property Rights Protection of the 19th Asian Games of Zhejiang Province were adopted

Regulations on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection for the 19th Asian Games have been adopted at the 53rd Executive meeting of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province on October 13, according to Zhejiang Province Market Supervision Administration.

The formulation of the "Provisions on protection" is of great significance to strengthen the Asian Games intellectual property rights protection, protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Asian Games intellectual property rights holders, protect and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the Olympic Movement in Asia. This is not only a promise made by Zhejiang as the host province of the Asian Games to the Council of Asia Olympics, but also a critical path for the legislation of intellectual property protection for large-scale sports events.

Since last year, Zhejiang Province Market Supervision Administration and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee have launched a survey on the protection of the Asian Games ahead of schedule. At the beginning of 2020, as the intellectual property legislation task of the Asian Games was included in the provincial government's legislative plan, Zhejiang Provincial Market Supervision Administration and the Asian Games Organizing Committee formed a legislative working group officially to work out the legislative work plan. The draft of the protection regulation was formed for comments in April.

According to Zhejiang Province Market Supervision Administration, the Provisions on protection further clarifies the market supervision and other administrative supervision departments' intellectual property protection responsibilities, as well as the protection of trademarks, patents, works, trade secrets and other intellectual property rights objects related to the Hangzhou Asian Games.
