Beijing Normal University Launched "Clean Dust Plan"

Beijing Normal University Launched the "Clean Dust Plan" to Safeguard Rights and Fight Against Counterfeits, and Won 800,000 Yuan Compensation in Two Lawsuits

 

On October 8, the Wechat account "Beijing Normal University" disclosed two successful lawsuits against the University in terms of combating infringement.

In August this year, Beijing Normal University declared the first case of "clean dust plan" in Haidian District Court. The defendant, a Beijing education company was found to have constituted unfair competition because of conducting training programs using the name of Beijing Normal University. The court ordered the defendant to compensate the school's economic loss of 401,000 Yuan, and asked it to apologize publicly on the website to eliminate the impact.

In September, Beijing Normal University sued a kindergarten in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province for illegally using the name of Beijng Normal University to run a school, and settled the case in Haidian court. The defendant compensated the school for the economic loss of 400,000 Yuan and published an apology in the official newspaper of Xianyang city to eliminate the relevant impact.

According to reports, Beijing education company, which is located in the Jingshi Keji building and mainly engaged in education, training and technical consultation, declared that it "relies on Beijing Normal University" and "is awarded the certificate of completion by Beijing Normal University" in the eight national advanced seminar for school presidents. In addition, the banners inside the training classes were titled "Beijing Normal University Training". After mastering the relevant infringement evidence, the volunteers of "clean dust plan" of Beijing Normal University cooperated with lawyers to investigate and collect evidence quickly, and formally filed a lawsuit to Haidian court in January 2019. 

Through online registration and offline recruitment, as of September 2019, more than 500 individual volunteers have been recruited for the "clean dust plan" special action, including school students, on-the-job teachers, teachers and students of affiliated schools and alumni. At the same time, the Volunteer Secretariat of the "clean dust plan" was established, which was composed of seven student volunteers with rich experience in safeguarding rights, cracking down on counterfeit goods, and collecting clues, and was responsible for the overall planning of the volunteer work of the "clean dust plan" special action.
