Public Open Week Launched by the IP Court of the Supreme People’s Court

To celebrate the 19th World Intellectual Property Day on April 26 and help the public get closer to the detailed IP judgement process since the IP Court of the Supreme People’s Court was established, the IP public open week themed with Strengthen the IP Protection & Establish a Top-Class Business Environment was successfully launched by the Court from April 23. Started with the speech delivered by Zhou Xiang, deputy chief judge of the IP Court of the SPC, the public open week provided the public and journalists with a visit to the Litigation Service Center of the Court, opportunities to experience the intelligent system for electronic filing litigation materials and online search for typical cases as well as a open trial.

During the event, the invited public representatives visited the Litigation Service Center of the IP Court, in which they got knowledge of the litigation services fully benefited from intelligent and informatization technology provided by the SPC. Meanwhile, they also experienced the considerate functions, which helped them appreciate the convenience by the intelligent system in the sections like electronic filing litigation materials and online search for typical cases. “I’m surprised by the comprehensive informatization and electronic services provided by the IP Court of the SPC!”, commented for the technology-driving law by Xie Shuo, student from the SJTU after experiencing the electronic search for detailed cases information and typical cases with a reading of the ID card.

After that, the invited went to the Court No.1, and hearing the trial of administrative dispute Baidu, Inc., Sogou, Inc. v. the Patent Reexamination Board of the CNIPA on invalid patent rights. This was the first administrative case on invalid patent rights accepted by the IP Court of the SPC, which was heard in public by the chief judge Wang Chuang, deputy chief judge of the Court. The open hearing provides the public with a better chance to the whole process of a trial for patent disputes and other technological cases.
