Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society and the 2019 Annual Meeting
The second session of the Second the Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society and the 2019 Annual Meeting was held in Beijing on April 13, 2019. This conference was hosted by the Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society and supported by iQiyi and Beijing Rongtai Law Firm. The conference themed “The Transformation of Intellectual Property Rule of Law in the New Era”, focused on hot spot issues.More than 300 people attended the meeting, including well-known IP experts, scholars, judges, lawyers, enterprises and industry representatives.
The Conference heard and considered the Work Report for 2018 and Work Plan for 2019 by President Su Chi. Mr Su said that the Society would adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, making unremitting efforts for the construction of intellectual property rights in China. The Society was reorganized during the conference.
The conference consisted of the opening ceremony, theme report and five sub-forums. During the theme report session, Yang Lixin, professor and doctoral tutor of the Law School of Renmin University of China and vice president of the Civil Law Research Association of the Chinese Law Society made a delivered a keynote speech on "New Progress in the Codification of Civil Code." Through the theme report, the participants were further informed about the progress of the compilation of the Civil Code and the legislative situation of whether the currently controversial intellectual property rights should be “incorporated”. Topics of the sub-forums concentrated on hot spot issues, in line with the requirements of institutionalized IP regime, in order to explore IP protection in all aspects and from multiple perspectives. Topics of sub-forums are as follows.

Sub-Forum Two: Application of Originality Theory in Practice
Sub-Forum Three: Companies’ IP Strategy in the New Era
Sub-Forum Four: Trademark Protection in the Big Data Era
Sub-Forum Five: Difficulties in the Revision of the Patent Law
As a professional academic organization, Beijing Intellectual Property Law Society will adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, respecting knowledge, pursuing further opening up and innovation, standardizing management, and focusing on the difficulties in intellectual property. It will highlight its own professional features and strive to become a first-class platform for theory innovation and practice development of IP.
