Amendment to China’s Civil Procedure Law come into effect on Jan 1

On September 1, the fifth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress voted to adopt an amendment to the Civil Procedure Law, which will take effect on January 1, 2024. The revision of the Civil Procedure Law focuses on improving civil litigation procedures related to foreign affairs, which is conducive to further improving the quality and efficiency of the trial of foreign-related civil cases. The modification is also to better protect the legitimate rights of litigants and strongly safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests. Meanwhile, the amendment, responding to public concerns, also revised and improved other related issues in the field of civil litigation.
