CNSA's new rule to deal heavy blow to China's short-form video market

The China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA) on December 15 published the 2021 amendment of the the Censoring Criteria for Online Short-Form Video (《网络短视频内容审核标准细则》). The 100 type of banned content grouped into 21 classes listed in the 2019 version have been reviewed and revised to even more effectively protect creators’ copyright.

The updated Article 93 has drawn the most attention for its tighter prescription that short-form video creators are banned from editing and adapting audiovisual works without their original creators’ authorization. It is believed that the booming market for short-form video will likely to be hit hard by this rule.
